Media Student does guest announcements on Capital FM
Bracknell & Wokingham College student, Luke Seymour, studying Creative Media BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 had the exciting opportunity to become a guest announcer for Capital FM’s breakfast show. He responded to a tweet that they had put out asking for a guest announcer and within minutes they had replied saying they would love to take him on. “They emailed me over a script and I had to record it on my phone and send it back, the next day it was on the show, it was brilliant.” He did this for a week, announcing different artists and guests such as Justin Bieber and Brooklyn Beckham.
“I felt excited and it gave me a bit more confidence with radio as it’s something I’d like to do in the future, I would love to do it again it was great fun.”
Luke’s advice to other students who wanted to gain experience in radio would be to get yourself out there and if you want to do something just go ahead and do it.
Luke has always loved radio, “I have always thought oh wouldn’t it be great to have a career in radio and talk to millions of people, I would absolutely love it.”
Luke has enjoyed studying at the College, especially the practical elements such as making a music video, “I love this course and all the tutors have been really supportive.”
Luke’s future plans are to get into radio presenting. “If I work hard, I can work my way up to the big stations because I know you have to start small and work your way up with radio. Maybe I’ll go into Hospital radio and work my way up to big stations like Capital and Kiss.”
