Sussex Downs College

Sussex Downs College is one of the largest and most successful colleges in the South East. With sites in Eastbourne, Lewes, Newhaven, Hailsham and Uckfield, we pride ourselves on creating a specifically tailored learning environment for every student.

The College has the highest number of students taking A Levels every year. The pass rate for the 2009 was over the county average, with 74% passing with grades A-C, and an overall pass rate of 97%.

The 'Learning and Skills Beacon Status' - the ultimate accolade for an FE college - was awarded in 2008 for "outstanding performance". This followed an excellent inspection from Ofsted in 2007 which praised the College for its 'outstanding leadership and management' and the quality of teaching and learning.

The College is committed to providing centres of excellence in education and training, extend lifelong learning. Sussex Downs College offers over 750 qualifications ranging from entry level to Higher Education.

There are three sixth form centres: Park College, Eastbourne Vocational College and Lewes 6th Form. Students can study a broad range of courses at a level to suit them, with vocational courses providing training on site.

There are opportunities for adults to re-train or update their skills though Employer Training. The International College is aimed at helping European and international students to achieve their goals. 

Sussex Downs College also works closely with local schools to help the needs of young people. The College offers the opportunity of work placed learning during years 10 and 11.
