North-West Kent College

North West Kent College is at the forefront in its comprehensive provision of further and higher education for students over the age of 16.

It runs a wide range of full-time and part-time academic and vocational programmes for over 8,500 full-time and part-time students from two main College campuses approximately 12 miles apart in Dartford and Gravesend.

Programmes range from Art and Design to Accounting and Business Studies, Computing and Administration to Construction and Building Services, Mechanical Engineering to Media Studies and Multimedia, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy to Hotel and Catering, Performing and Technical Arts to Photography and Professional Care, Sport and Leisure to Secretarial Studies, and Public Services to Travel and tourism.

The School of Foundation Studies runs programmes for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

A smaller College campus on the Gravesend riverfront at Denton Wharf covers specialist maritime training with over 150 programmes approved and certified by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

The College's educational initiative at The Learning Shop in Bluewater operates the Government-backed "learndirect" concept for absolute beginners or the more experienced computer user.

The College employs 650 staff – 400 lecturers and 250 administrative and support staff.

College amenities are geared towards high quality education, learning and training within an area undergoing considerable economic development with the Bluewater retail and leisure complex, the international railway passenger terminal at Ebbsfleet, and the Crossways business and distribution park as part of the Thames Gateway.
