Brooklands College
Brooklands and Spelthorne colleges have merged, creating the new Brooklands College, which is now located across two campuses in Weybridge and Ashford. The Weybridge Campus offers a more rural setting with the Ashford Campus presenting a high street position close to the London borders with Heathrow. The new college has ambitious plans for the future development of its buildings and facilities and September 2007 sees these start by the opening a new art and design and engineering block on the Weybridge campus. The College has two CoVES in Engineering and Public Services and is a partner in a third for Aerospace with Northbrook and Farnborough Colleges.
There is also a new team working with local employers to help them extend their on and off site training programmes in order to develop their staff and their business.
The College provides a wide variety of vocational courses, available at a range of levels. Courses on offer include Motorsport, Aeronautical and General Engineering, Hospitality and Catering, Public Services and Sport, Art and Design, Fashion, Performing Arts and Media, Health and Social Care, Childcare, Travel and Tourism . A wide range of AS and A2 options is also available across the two campuses.
All full-time students are also offered a variety of Enrichment Programmes, which include activities such as athletics, football, basketball, hockey, rugby, archery, canoeing, rock-climbing, orienteering, art, cooking, and dance and rock music. The college also has a large assortment of facilities to support its students' studies including a custom-built sports hall, working trade kitchens, drama and dance studios, TV studio, and a video/radio-editing suite.
The Brooklands Campus is situated in 120 acres of its own grounds. It is well placed for transport, as Weybridge railway station is only a 5 minute walk away, there is a spacious car park for students and the college provides its own bus service to and from surrounding areas.
The Ashford Campus is also well placed for transport as it is situated only a short 5 minute walk away from Ashford Station.
