Barton Peveril College

Barton Peveril is a very successful sixth-form college, which consistently achieves outstanding exam results above the national average. In 2007, students achieved an overall A2 pass rate of 98.7%, with 72% achieving the highest grades. The most recent Ofsted inspection recognised student achievement as 'outstanding'.

There are over 2300 students aged 16-19 who study full-time, with a wide range of courses available in 6 curriculum areas. Students can also get involved in a variety of enrichment courses and competitions, which enhance university applications and CV's. There is also a very active Student Committee and our students achieve tremendous success in sport, drama, dance and music, as well s taking part in trips at home and abroad.

Progression is very important, with over 800 students going on to University in 2007. The tutorial system looks closely at helping students move onto University or employment, and the college organises a HE fair, Arts Fair and Futures Day held on-site to provide information to students. A dedicated Oxbridge Co-ordinator is also in post to provide support to any students who wish to apply to Oxford, Cambridge or any top university.

There is a real 'wow factor' attached to Barton Peveril. The buildings have been carefully planned to achieve a working atmosphere for 16-19 year olds that is like a University. Over the last eight years over £11 million has been invested in our facilities. The new buildings provide us with some of the most spectacular specialist facilities to be found anywhere in the country for Sport, Music, Dance and Drama. The College now also has new facilities for English, a new Lecture Theatre and Internet Café.
